Live a good, honorable life. This way you will be able to enjoy it a second time when you get older.
SCHOOL FOR LIFE, Chiang Mai, Thailand
School for Life is an internationally funded project taking care of children from difficult backgrounds. Whereas in the beginning there were mosty AIDS orphants, by now many others have come: children who have lost their relatives through the Tsunami, children whose parents have been killed or children who have escaped situations of violence, child prostitution or abuse. School for Life is securing their existence, takes care of them psychologically, provides medical care, creates a new home, wants to give them the best education possible and acknowledges their right to a happy childhood.
Besides that the project supports those kids who leave the school at the age of 18 to enter work life. At the present moment 122 orphants are living in the project.
School for Life is a state recognized Social Welfare School. Its concept has been regarded by UNESCO as “…much needed world class innovative effort in the field of education” and as “…new standard of educational excellence for the world community of the 21st century”.
When I got asked to become the ambassador for School for Life in summer 2010, I decided to travel to Thailand to form my own opinion. After spending almost one month with the orphants, I was convinced by the project and I took on the funcion.
Presently I am supporting School for Life as a be better PROJECT by helping with fundraising and publicity. Donations are urgently needed, but also sponsoring godparents and contributions in kind are very helpful and appreciated by the kids in Thailand.

I am looking forward to your mail ! THANK YOU !

Der Care-Bear von Maharani Jewels
a be better PROJECT by Kerstin Linnartz
It started with two women meeting and their common love for Asia:
TV personality Kerstin Linnartz and jewellery designer Christina von Oeynhausen found out right at their first conversation that they share a special connection: Linnartz has been spending years in India, learning and teaching about Yoga and von Oeynhausen has her jewelly handcrafted in Rajastan, the Mekka of jewels and silver processing.
Through this mutuality a friendship grew to become very furtile: the two women are not only successful in their businesses- they both want to help others besides their jobs.
This is how the idea to a common project came to life when Kerstin took on the task of being an ambassador for School for Life in Thailand in summer 2010. The project currently hosts 134 orphants in Chaing Mai, Northern Thailand and is urgently in need of sponsors and financial support. After spending one month with the kids in December 2010 Kerstin came back full of inspiration and showed her friend Christina drawings she had made with the children.
Having only played with ideas prior to this, it now turned precise: designer von Oeynhausen developed the first piece of Maharani jewellery from the kids paintings: the Care Bear.
The turnover of each pretty little bear will be given to School for Life and will take care of food, accomodation as well as education for one child for a whole month!
The teddy is symbolizing the love for children as well as Kerstin Linnartz´ and Christina von Oeynhausens chosen home Berlin.
The little pendants ornating the bear made from massive silver, are symbolic as well: the OM stands for the spiritual power connecting all people and inspires us to do more! The OM is decorated with a small garnet, which is attributed with handling crises and being optimistic.
And last but not least there is the little elephant: Maharani´s logo and national symbol of Thailand- where the money generated through the Care Bear will flow… hopefully in abundance.
The designer purposely chose a motiv that is loved by children and adults alike. Thus the bear can give joy to mother and child. And at the same time it will provide a warm home for children who are less privileged.
Give yourself or your beloved ones the gift of a beautiful piece of jewellery and at the same time the children of School for Life some affection and security!
You can order one of the ca. 4,5 cm mesuring bears made from 925 Sterling Silver and eyes from cairngorm at a price of 229,-€:
by eMail to email@example.com or
right with Maharani Jewels under 0049 (0)151-270 270 34.
The bears were handcrafted in limited number.

ART SUMMER in Berlin
Charity event in aid of the School for Life
Finally I find the time to say THANK YOU… summer in Germany leaves you wanting more and thus it seemed that my little time-out in Italy was needed to turn to this topic:
Art Summer 2011 for School for Life!
It’s been a first time, a “trial” with the goal “well, let’s see what happens…”. And something wonderful happened:
My first charity event for School for Life in Thailnd, for who I am an ambassador since last summer, turned into such a beautiful and successful event thanks to the effort of many amazing people that we decided to organize one every year from now on.
And all had happened through a “coincident” (which do not really exist;): Michael Kaufmann was reading my blog last year when I spent a month with the kids at School for Life in Thailand to get to know the project after I got asked to represent them as an ambassador. He said he was organizing one event per year dedicated to a charity organization and in 2011 he would like to give it to my project since he liked what I did.
The cooperation went so well that Art Summer 2011 turned bigger and more beautiful than ever. We activated great artists, sponsors and guests. We found an amazing location- and we had lots of fun…
Of course I learned a lot as well and next year all will be even more beautiful and bigger. And of course we will try to raise more money for the kids at School for Life!
But a first step is done, just like Hermann Hesse describes in his poem “Steps”:
“A magic dwells in each beginning…”
The magic of this year is still resonating in everyone involved and thus they shall be thanked at this point and we want to share some pics.
My heartfelt THANKS in the name of the kids of School for Life go to: Michael Kaufmann and the Team von Independent Concepts, der Villa Starke in Berlin, den Künstlern Tim Fagan, Simonetta Ganelli & Band und Jazzsängerin Rena, Fotografin Simone Wallinger für die Bilder aus der School for Life, Umiwi für die in der Schule produzierten Armreifen, unseren großzügigen Auktions-Teilnehmern, Stefan Krempl von AEDT, Fotoagentur Baganz, Fotograf Andreas Meyer und allen, die dazu beigetragen haben, diesen Abend so unvergesslich zu machen. Thanks to our sponsors: HOME Magazin, A + A Boote, Aveda, Catwalk Bar, Design Hotels, Holmes Place, Julia Starp, Lacoste, Procter & Gamble, Pelikan, Maler Michel Jacot, Juwelier Lutz Reuer, Udo Walz, Wiedenhoff Stahlwaren, Richter Media Group (Technik), Roskos & Meier OHG und Hotel Castor the Wine.
And THANKS to the team of School for Life without whom the whole project would not exist!
You are cordially invited to Art Summer 2011:
Music, Art, BBQ & Friends – in the most exclusive and most beautiful villas of the Haupttadt. Magnolia trees, torches, pavilions and pagodas provide exclusive with valuable Teaksofas for summery ambience. With the strong foundation of the villa we join in artists such as Yoko Ono, Vivienne Westwood, who used this already exceptional location for events.
The event will be moderated by the well-known television presenter and ambassador for the “School for Life” Kerstin Linnartz . Therefore we present this evening, several extraordinary artists and our special guest:
Tim Fagan , Grammy-winner from the USA.
Simonetta Ginelli : The harpist Simonetta from Berlin was already on stage with Beyonce, our President and many avid listeners in Switzerland, France, the USA and Germany.
Rena Golea & Band : You are studying at Germany’s elite jazz conservatory in Berlin, they groove through a century of jazz and they’ll bring the house down swinging. Rena Golea (vocals), Elias Stemeseder (p), Thomas Kolarczyk (b) and Julian Külpmann (drums) are “fast forward” and lure the audience into an almost forgotten world.
Tim Fagan : Grammy winner and songwriter of the hit single “Lucky” (Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat) U.S. singer / songwriter “FAGAN.” His passion for the guitar began when he was growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii. The music of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, BB King and other blues sizes were his biggest influences. His way of dealing with the guitar, the warm voice and his versatile songwriting style reminiscent of artists such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and John Mayer.
In auction in favor of “School for Life” are waiting for you on this evening many valuable prizes: a trip (stay) in a holiday resort in India, 5 star hotel weekend, a spa weekend, cinema season tickets, designer clothes, Holmes Place membership years, and many more … All proceeds go entirely to the auctioned prices Aler “School for Life” benefit.
